Pixar Animation Studios announced the largest quarterly profit in the company’s history. The $46.9 million in earnings was greatly fueled by the phenomenal sales of Monsters, Inc. on home video.
Pixar’s revenues for the quarter totaled $102.5 million, compared to $11.3 million in the same quarter a year ago.
The CG animation studio behind some of the biggest box office hits of recent years hopes to mirror the success of Monsters, Inc. with its 2003 release Finding Nemo, 2004’s The Incredibles and Cars in 2005.
