Don Levy has been assigned to the post of Sr. VP of marketing and communications at Sony Pictures Digital (SPD). Prior to joining Sony, he worked as a freelance production publicist for such EFX-driven films as The Lost World: Jurassic Park, The Flintstones, Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Witches of Eastwick, 2010: The Year We Make Contact, Brainstorm and Poltergeist.
Later, Levy spent six years as production publicist for Paramount Pictures, and in 1995 joined Sony Pictures as consultant on Columbia Pictures Oscar-winning campaign for Sense and Sensibility. Finally he joined Sony Pictures Imageworks during the groups founding stages. With Levy directing its communication efforts, Imageworks has gone on to become an award-winning visual-effects and digital-character-animation studio. Last year Levy oversaw the Academy Award campaign for Imageworks animated short film, The ChubbChubbs, which garnered the groups first Oscar. He went on to support Sony Pictures Digital Studios digital-production and post-production businesses.
Over the years, Levy has assumed additional communication responsibilities as SPD has expanded to include Sony Pictures Digital Networks. The branch concentrates on mobile entertainment, broadband video delivery and personal media software and services such as Sony Pictures Mobile, SoapCity Download, and Screenblast.
In his new position, Levy will continue to direct the corporate communications, marketing and public relations for SPDs operating units, including Sony Pictures Imageworks, Sony Pictures Digital Networks, Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Online Entertainment. In addition, Levy will continue to be responsible for the coordination of marketing and brand strategy between Sony Pictures Digital and Sony Pictures Entertainment as well as other Sony companies including Sony Electronics.
Levy is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and received the Publicists Guild of Americas highest honor, the Les Mason Award.
