Loonland’s New Sales Look Sells

It looks like some of the glam from TV-Loonland’s recent sales team makeover has buyers pining for the quality properties in the Germany-based company’s impressive catalogue. Spearheaded by CEO Selma Kappel and new head of distribution Justine Bannister, the sales team overhaul has sparked a slew of deals with broadcasters and home entertainment distributors across Europe, Latin America and Australia.

Heidi, the 1×80 co-production between TV-Loonland, its U.K. subsidiary Telemagination and Canada’s Nelvana sold with Lion of Oz to French home entertainment distributor TF1 Video, Germany-based Concorde and Ireland’s RTE. Croatian home video and TV house Blitz, the U.K.’s DVD and video specialist Entry Line and the Spanish marketing authority Motion Pictures picked up broadcast rights on Enchanted Tales. Other Spanish deals included the sale of Clifford the Big Red Dog to Disney Spain (Recall Colombia will also give the friendly canine a home), Captain Star to TV3 Catalunya and Little Ghost to Barcelona Multimedia, which snatched up the DVD license.

Sweden’s SVT decided to extend its contract on Little Ghosts and Letters from Felix, and Swedish broadcaster YLE also showed a liking for Loonland’s Letters from Felix, securing rights to the series and 26 episodes of Connie the Cow. U.K.-based ITV picked up The Last Polar Bears Christmas special for the fifth time and RTP Portugal and Globosat Brazil purchased rights to Da Mob.

It also appears that demand is riding high for the classic My Little Pony franchise with Italy’s AVO Film, Cartoon Network Latin America and Quality Films of Chile picking up a variety of rights to the title. Quality Films also couldn’t resist Loonland’s pink-haired rocker Jem. Chilevision, Medcom Panama and Colmed Dominican Republic picked up the Christmas Specials show just in time for the holiday season. Loonland also cinched a deal with Colmed for Generation O and FETV Panama extended its rights to Angel Wings.

It seems Loonland has also piqued the interest of the home ent experts over at Australia’s Madman, who just lengthened their contract on the 20-year-old Transformers. For more information about the movers and shakers over at TV-Loonland. go to www.loonland.com.
