GoAnimate to Shoot the Messenger

GoAnimate.com has partnered with Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead to create election-inspired animated pieces for upcoming performances and webcasts of Shoot The Messenger, a New York City-based comedy troupe starring members from The Daily Show, Air America Radio, National Lampoon, Upright Citizens Brigade, Second City and The Huffington Post. Winstead will write and produce the shorts using software available to the public for free at GoAnimate.com.

‘GoAnimate is a great creative tool that allows me to tap into the exciting world of animation without any background or training,’ Winstead comments. ‘The software eliminates the need to be an artist or a computer person, you just need an idea. GoAnimate.com is an amazing website that allows me to express my political commentary and observations and, at the same time, help cultivate a new generation of comedic talent who can use the software to branch into an area of expression to which few have had access.’

The Shoot The Messenger performances and webcasts have started and will continue through the November elections. The animated pieces can be seen on GoAnimate.com, The Huffington Post, Lizzwinstead.com, and Shootthemessengernyc.com. They will also screen continuously during the Republican National Convention on jumbo screens in three separate locations including Protest Park, just down the road from the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota where the RNC is being held Sept. 1-4.
