DECODE Shows Go Greek

Greece’s Channel 9 has acquired six kid shows from DECODE Ent., the distribution subsidiary of DHX Media Ltd. The deal includes the animated series Franny’s Feet, Bo on the GO!, King, Olliver’s Adventures, What About Mimi? and Watership Down, and marks the first time DECODE has sold into the territory.

‘This is a new territory for us and we’re delighted to have secured such a volume of sales with Channel 9,’ says DECODE sales exec Lara Ilie. ‘We’re confident that our animated series will prove as popular with audiences in Greece as they have with children in the rest of the world.’

Bo on the GO! (40×22) is produced in CG using motion capture technology. The show follows the adventures of Bo, a positive, energetic and inquisitive young heroine, and her young friend Dezadore dragon. ‘Dezzy’ encourages children at home to go on amazing adventures by actively joining in a variety of movements that assist the pair on their weekly quest. The show is one of CBC’s highest-rated preschool offerings in Canada, and has recently sold to France 5 and a number of other major international broadcasters including Cartoon Network in Asia.

Franny’s Feet (39×22) is commissioned by Canada’s Family Channel and the U.K.’s Five, where it airs as part of the popular Milkshake! preschool block. The series revolves around a little girl with magical shoes that take her around the world to learn how people live and work. The show airs on PBS in the U.S., and is seen in more than 150 countries worldwide.

King (52×22) centers on 12-year-old Russell who, shortly after moving into a new house, discovers a trap door under his bed that leads to the fantastic world of Under. Russell is crowned King of this fantastical realm, which sorely needs his help. The series is a co-production of DECODE and Funbag Animation Studios Inc. It has sold around the world to broadcasters including Family Channel in Canada, ABC in Australia, France 5 in France and Nickelodeon in the U.K.

What About Mimi? (39×22) is a show about 11-year-old Mimi Morton, a problem-solver extraordinaire who trains her earnest skills on her friends and family. The DECODE/Studio B/EMTV (AG) co-production has aired on major international broadcasters including TELETOON in Canada, France 3, The U.K.’s CITV, Italy’s Mediatrade, and Germany’s KIKA.

Olliver’s Adventures (39×22) follows the exploits of a hyper-kinetic kid with a big imagination who wants to save the world. Plagued by his older sisters, Olliver escapes to the privacy of his bedroom where he can take off and dream up his own wild escapades. Currently airing on TELETOON in Canada, the show is produced by Canada’s Collideascope Digital.

The DECODE/Alltime Ent. co-production Watership Down (39×22) is a tale about the friendship, survival and heroism of a group of rabbits who leave their endangered warren in search of a new home. Driven by a vision of a Promised Land, the small band of renegades sets out on a perilous adventure across the English countryside until they finally reach their new home, Watership Down. Major broadcasters for the series include YTV, CBC and VRAK in Canada, CITV in the U.K. and SuperRTL in Germany.
