Naruto, Death Note Get Joost

VIZ Media’s popular anime series Naruto, Death Note and Bleach have been picked up by Joost, the broadcast-quality internet television service in the U.S. Joost will carry the original, uncut episodes in Japanese with English subtitles, making them available for free at www.joost.com. New TV-14 rated installments will be added regularly.

Naruto, Death Note and Bleach fans can watch full episodes online and interact with others in the Joost community. Visitors are able join existing fan groups or form their own in order to add comments on shows and discuss their favorite characters.

‘Our goal is to be the leading online destination for premium, legal anime’and VIZ Media is a key partner in this objective,’ says Danny Passman, global head of programming for Joost. ‘Naruto, Bleach and Death Note have great fan bases because of their amazing artistry and compelling storylines, and with Joost’s social features, these shows will be introduced to an even larger audience.’

Created by Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto follows the adventures of Uzumaki Naruto (www.naruto.com), a young boy in training to become a ninja. Cursed with the spirit of a nine-tailed fox demon, the boy is shunned and bullied by his fellow villagers. Resilient and undaunted in his quest to become a master ninja, he learns the importance of friendship, teamwork, loyalty, hard work, creativity, ingenuity, and right vs. wrong.

Death Note (www.deathnote.viz.com) is based on the manga series of the same name and is currently one of the hottest animated titles in Japan. The series revolves around Light Yagami, an ace student who has great prospects but is bored out of his mind. All that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and Light is determined to use the power of the tome to rid the world of evil. But when criminals mysteriously begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to investigate, and Light becomes a prime suspect.

The Bleach (www.bleach.viz.com) storyline follows fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki, who is able to see spirits, including Soul Reapers, warriors from the afterlife that defend humans from otherworldly beings called Hollows. Injured by a Hollow, a Soul Reaper named Rukia lends her powers to Ichigo, sending him on a perilous quest for truth.
