New York-based Animation Collective and France’s Canal+ today announced a broadcast partnership for four animated shows. Created by Larry Schwarz, founder and CEO of Animation Collective, the original series Three Delivery, Ellen’s Acres, Jolly Rabbit and HTDT will begin rolling out on Canal+ channels as early as this month.
Three Delivery, a U.S./Canadian co-venture between Animation Collective and FatKat Studios in partnership with YTV, currently airs in the U.S. on Nicktoons Network and will premiere in early 2009 on YTV and SRC in Canada, Nickelodeon Australia and CBBC in the U.K. The 26×2 series about a group of teenage delivery kids/superheroes is set in Chinatown and animated in a graphic, comic-book style. The show is scheduled to premiere on October 27 on CANAL+ Family Channel.
Ellen’s Acres (52×11) entertains preschoolers with the adventures of a precocious five-year-old who roams her family’s hotel with her feather duster, a tire and a huge imagination. The show currently airs on TV Ontario Kids and Cartoon Network U.K., with forthcoming launches on ABC in Australia, Al Jazeera in the Middle East, Spacetoon in Indonesia and True Corp in Thailand. The series will air on CANAL+’s preschool channel, PIWI.
Jolly Rabbit chronicles the madcap exploits of a spunky, early-teen rabbit as he navigates the seas with his band of punk-rocking buddies in search of his missing leg. In addition to CANAL+ Family, the 52×11 series will air on CBBC in the U.K. and ABC in Australia.
HTDT is a comedy that illustrates what happens when a scientifically re-engineered Humpty Dumpty is teamed up with a 10-year-old genius named Axel and his babysitter, Arisa, to protect the kingdom of Olde Story from evil. This series of 52 11-minute installments aims to entertain kids while teaching lessons along the way. The show has been ordered by The CW4Kids for broadcast in the U.S. on Saturday mornings, and will air in France on CANAL+’s T’l’TOON.
Animation Collective’s other properties include: Kappa Mikey, MTVN and Nickelodeon’s first global acquisition for Nicktoons Network and Nickelodeon; and Thumb Wrestling Federation: TWF for Cartoon Network in the U.S., Asia, Australia and Spain, YTV and the BBC; work-for-hire productions include Speed Racer: The Next Generation for Nicktoons Network and Lionsgate Ent. Animation Collective is also the largest provider of original content for KOL, America Online’s kids channel, and Red, its teen channel.
