DECODE Sells Animal Mechanicals

DECODE Enterprises, the distribution subsidiary of DHX Media Ltd., has announced a number of MIPCOM sales for the new animated preschool series Animal Mechanicals. Produced by Halifax Film, and commissioned by CBC in Canada, the series of 40 11-minute episodes has been picked up by Disney Channels in the U.K. and Asia, Radio-Canada, Discovery Latin America, Romania’s HOP, EBS in Korea and Al-Jazeera Children Channel. Prava I Prevodi has also acquired the title for Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.

Animal Mechanicals is an action adventure series about transforming, robotic animals as big as dinosaurs and twice as powerful. Rex, Unicorn, Komodo, Sasquatch and Mouse all live and play in a colorful, ‘snap-together-take-apart’ world. Their environment can also transform like an interconnecting and interactive playset. Things are always popping up, changing shape and presenting new challenges for the Animal Mechanicals.

DECODE Ent. represents the international rights to Halifax Film’s kids and family programming, including fellow preschool properties Bo On the Go and POKO. The company also distributes the preschool-targeted Super Why from Blue’s Clues producers Out of the Blue Ent., and the DECODE Ent.-produced Franny’s Feet. In addition, DECODE reps programming from the acclaimed Vancouver animation studio Studio B, which was acquired by DHX last year.
