India-based animation, gaming and entertainment company DQE has teamed with French entities LPPTV and Method Animations SA to co-produce an animated television series based on the classic book The Little Prince. The show is backed by major French Television network France 3.
Written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery in 1943, The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) has been translated into more than 180 languages and has sold more than 130 million copies worldwide. It has also spawned plays and previous animated productions, including a 1974 pic from Paramount Pictures and a 1980s cartoon series that aired on Nickelodeon in the U.S.
The series of 52 half-hour episodes is being produced in CG by Method Animations with an estimated budget of $24.5 million. In almost every episode, the Little Prince will leave in search of his home planet and get into a new and exciting adventure.
