Keyframe, Kavaleer Take On Sock Monsters

Digital animation and visual effects studio Keyframe Digital Prods. has teamed with Dublin, Ireland-based Kavaleer Prods. to co-develop an animated children’s series dubbed Sock Monsters. Keyframe co-founders Clint Green and Darren Cranford have created animated samples for the series and are screening them for international buyers at MIPCOM. According to Keyframe CEO Brian Simpson, the company is currently in negotiations with several European children’s networks for the series.

Sock Monsters follows the adventures of Fleecy, Toasty, Smidgen and Scrunch, a comic, ragtag crew consisting of odd socks living in Sock World. The gang helps lost socks that have slipped down a magical chute into Sock World find a purpose as arms, legs, trunks and ears of the Sock Monsters.

Keyframe is also busy co-producing and creating 3D animation for 26 new half-hour episodes for the second season of Pinky Dinky Doo, the animated preschool series produced by Sesame Workshop and Cartoon Pizza. Green is a producer and production manager on the series, which Cranford is directing. The company’s original property, The Hugglers, a Christian 3D-animated/live-action, direct-to-video release for the preschool market, was awarded an Accolade Award as well as Keyframe’s first Telly Award.

Kavaleer Prods. is currently in production on 52 11-minute episodes of a preschool series titled Garth for CBeebies and RTE, and is developing the tween-skewed Mortified! with TV Loonland. Lifeboat Luke, the company’s co-pro with Belfast-based Banjax Studios, is currently on the air with Ireland’s RTE and various other broadcasters around the world.
