RHI Ent., the production entity behind a great number of CG-laden made-for-television genre movies, has entered into a network license agreement with SCI FI Channel for a slate of U.S.-premiere television movies. The deal includes basic cable rights for five new horror and thriller pics to feature computer-generated beasties and other digital effects. The features are produced for RHI by Muse Entertainment Enterprises.
Two of the films have already wrapped production on location in Romania. Directed by actor Rick Schroder, Hellhounds stars Scott Elrod (Men In Trees) as a Greek warrior who battles the demonic hellhounds of Hades in order to rescue his bride (Amanda Brooks) and bring her back to life. Rise of the Gargoyle stars Eric Balfour (24) as a struggling author studying stone gargoyles in Paris when he comes face-to-face with a living monster. The film is directed by Bill Corcoran.
RHI and crews in Romania are set to begin production on Alien Western, which will have monstrous, buglike, extraterrestrial machines attacking folks in the 1890s, and Carney, about a fiendish carnival sideshow attraction based on the Jersey Devil legend that escapes and terrorizes a Depression-era town. Sand Serpents will have American soldiers fighting the Taliban in the desert of Afghanistan when they run into giant, wormlike serpents.
