Timoon Animation and director Chris Columbus’ 1492 Pictures have teamed up to produce the $7 million animated series Scary Larry, Variety reports.
Based on Little Gloomy, a Slave Labor Graphics comic book series, the 52 x 13 min. series is about a teen werewolf who forms a rock band with his monster friends. Annabelle Perrichon will adapt the show from the comic.
French channels Canal Plus and Teletoon have pre-bought broadcast rights to the series.
Timoon is the animation-production arm of France-based Lagardere Entertainment.
Columbus has extensive live-action credits, including directing the first two Harry Potter feature films, Home Alone and Home Alone 2, Mrs. Doubtfire, Rent and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief. This is his first animated series.
The comic book was created by Landry Walker and Eric Jones, and was first published in 1999.
Wasn’t Chris Columbus also the creator of Galaxy High School, the animated series from the 80s?
