New York City is getting animated for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
To kick things off, the lovable yellow Minions from the summer hit movie Despicable Me are promoting the Dec. 14 release of the film on DVD and Blu-ray by ringing the opening bell Wednesday at the New York Stock Exchange. The Minions will return on Friday to ring the closing bell.
The yellow pranksters also will appear in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on the Statue of Liberty float with actress Miranda Cosgrove, who voiced the character Margo in the film.
The Macy’s parade — famous for its balloons of popular cartoon characters from Snoopy to Spider-Man — also will feature several characters from Pokemon. Among them are Pikachu,who will celebrate Pokemon’s 10th anniversary of taking part int he parade, as well as new entries Reshiram and Zekron from the upcoming video games Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version, coming next year for Nintendo DS.
