Disney Gets ‘Tangled’ Up on 3D Blu-ray

The Walt Disney Animation Studios brought a classic fairy tale into modern times with Tangled, and they’re doing it again with a home video release that includes a 3D Blu-ray edition.

Tangled (Disney, $29.99 DVD, $39.99 Blu-ray and DVD combo pack, $49.99 3D Blu-ray and DVD combo pack) comes packed with bonus features, including a behind-the-scenes tour, deleted scenes, extended songs, two original storybook openings, a 50th animated feature countdown and nine teaser commercials.

In case you missed it when it came to theaters last November, here’s the trailer:

Also out this week is the first new Peanuts special in five years. Peanuts: Happiness Is A Warm Blanket Charlie Brown (Warner Bros., $19.98) tells the tale of Linus trying to ditch his dependence on his blanket before his grandmother takes it away from him. The story is adapted from specific episodes of the famous Charles M. Schulz comic strip.

Completing the collections of many fans is Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends: Complete Season 5 (Vivendi, $34.93). Originally released only as part of the complete series DVD set, this single-season release fills in the final gap in the shelf for fans who’d been buying them from the start.

Also out this week is the original anime feature Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (FUNimation, $29.98 DVD, $34.98 Blu-ray), a compilation DVD called Batman 3-Pack Fun (Warner Bros., $19.97) and Hulk vs. Thor (Lionsgate, $9.98), a single-disc release of the feature from the Hulk Vs. release of 2009.

Several classic animated features are arriving for the first time on Blu-ray, including the Don Bluth classics All Dogs Go to Heaven (MGM, $19.99 Blu-ray), All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 (MGM, $19.99 Blu-ray) and The Secret of NIMH (MGM, $19.99 Blu-ray). Also new to Blu-ray is The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (Nickelodeon/Paramount, $26.99 Blu-ray and DVD combo pack).
