Arc Productions Promotes Young to COO, Pres

Arc Productions, formerly known as Starz Animation, continues its management restructuring under its new Canadian owners in preparation for expanded growth. After four and a half years as EVP and head of studio, David Steinberg is leaving the company to pursue his own projects. As part of the restructuring, Arc has announced that Jeff Young will step in and president and COO.

Steinberg, who joined Starz Animation Toronto in 2007 after a lengthy career as an artist, producer and executive in the animation industry, helped guide the studio to the forefront of the global animation and visual effects business. He oversaw production of five animated features in five years, including Gnomeo & Juliet.
”I am very proud of what we have built and all that we have accomplished together in my time here,” said Steinberg. “I will personally miss the incredible group of talent that I’ve had the privilege to assemble and work with so closely every day, and I wish them and the studio the very best of luck.”

Young, who was head of business and finance development for Starz, previously served as CFO for two major construction companies before joining the studio in 2007. He commented on the reorganized studio’s ambitions: “Gnomeo & Juliet‘s recent box office success solidified Arc as a major presence in the animation industry. The latest reviews for Camelot clearly show the company’s emergence as a force in the VFX world. I am excited to lead an organization comprised of such world class talent both in animation and visual effects. Our goal is to expand the company aggressively with a clear focus on innovative deal making and partnerships. We will certainly be active in the marketplace.”
