Children’s Media Conference Announces Lineup

Award-winning filmmaker David Puttnam (Chariots of Fire, The Mission) and Michael Acton Smith (creator of Moshi Monsters) will be participating in this year’s Children’s Media Conference, which takes place July 6-8 in Sheffield, England. The confab is chaired by Anna Home, former BCC head of children’s program and organized by Kathy Loizou and Greg Childs.

Lord Puttnam, who is a passionate advocate for digital innovation in education delivers the keynote speech and will challenge the conference delegates to take a fresh look at their audience—and ‘Think Differently’, the theme for this year’s conference. Acton Smith will offer a master class on how Moshi Monsters has evolved from a website to a global transmedia phenom, with over 50 million users.

Among the other industry veterans scheduled to participate at the event are Kay Kenbow (CBeebies), Damian Kavanagh (CBBC), Emma Tennant (Digital Channels ITV) and Michael Carrington (Turner Broadcasting). Rory Sutherland, exec creative director of OgilvyOne and president of the IPA will deliver the closing keynote, offering tips on how to find new models of commercial/public service funding, within new thinking about the big society.
