Wacom Debuts Cintiq 24HD

Interactive pen display leader Wacom has revealed its newest must-have tech tool for designers, illustrators, animators and video editors: the Cintiq 24HD. The 24-inch HD (1920 x 1200) widescreen display provides realistic color, new ergonomics features like a counter-weighted stand for multiple working postures, redesigned screen frame for resting the hands and arms and providing quick access to the Touch Ring and Express Keys, and a more realistic pen featuring 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and 40 degrees of tilt control make this a true step forward in comfort and performance enhancement for artists.

“The Cintiq 24HD is a wonderful example of what can be done when expert design experience and quality engineering are intelligently combined with user feedback from the professional community,” says Don Varga, Director of Professional Products for Wacom Technology Services Corp.  “All the right elements have been incorporated into our new flagship to help expand its capabilities and to improve its appeal in such markets as animation, photography and video production where a wide format, color-accurate, high-definition display is a crucial requirement.”

Additional features include:

+ Compatibility with leading color calibration devices, in many cases rendering the desire for a second display obsolete.

+ Intuitive handles and spring-assisted lift for quick and easy display stand adjustment.

+ Proprietary Tip Sensor technology, offering near-zero (one gram) starting pressure with the pen to simulate the natural feel of a brush or pen—2048 levels of pressure enable improved line weight and opacity control.

+ Pressure sensitive “eraser” plus two customizable side switches add to the intuitive design of the pen.

+ Compatible with pressure-sensitive software applications from Adobe, Autodesk, Corel, Pixologic.

+ Customizable, application-specific Express Keys and Touch Rings on each side of the display improve workflow and minimize keyboard dependency.

+ Additional options with the Wacom family of accessories. The Art Pen supports the pen rotation feature in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as well as Corel Painter 12 for natural brush and calligraphy effects.

The Cintiq 24HD will begin shipping in North America in October. Set to retail for $2,499 USD, it will be available from select resellers nationwide and at Wacom’s online store.
