Cars 2 crosses the home video finish line this week, bringing the most-recent feature from Pixar home in multiple formats and with plenty of extras.
The first Pixar film to be released in the 3D Blu-ray format, Cars 2 (Disney-Pixar, $39.99 Blu-ray-DVD combo pack, $39.99 two-disc DVD, $49.99 five-disc Blu-ray 3D combo pack, $29.99 DVD, and digital download) includes an interactive world tour map that takes viewers through nine locations seen in the film and follow Pixar animators as they sought inspiration for the film. The movie also includes the short film Toy Story: Hawaiian Vacation. And for completists, there also is an 11-disc, three-movie Blu-ray combo pack collector set edition that includes Cars, Cars 2 and Mater’s Tall Tales ($119.99).
Out on the classic side of things this week is The Essential Daffy Duck (Warner Bros., $26.99), a two-disc set that collects 21 classics starring the crazed fowl. Among the episodes are such classics as “Porky’s Duck Hunt,” “Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century,” “The Scarlett Pumpernickel” and “The Green Loonturn.”
Also out this week are Voltron: The Final Battle (Vivendi, $12.99), Transformers Beast Wars: The Complete Series (Vivendi, $54.99) and Strawberry Shortcake: Bright Lights, Big Dreams (Fox, $14.98).
