NFB Preps for Get Animated!

The National Film Board of Canada is gearing up for the 5th edition of Get Animated!, a program of animated screenings and activities coming to over 20 cities across Canada from October 22 to November 6 to celebrate International Animation Day (Oct. 28), in partnership with local organizations.

Highlights of the events include:

New Releases – 10 new animated projects screening during the event, plus a kids’ program, will include Anita Lebeau’s Big Drive, Amanda Forbis & Wendy Tilby’s Wild Life, Juliette Loubieres’ Pumpkins and Old Lace, Patrick Doyon’s Sunday, Marv Newland’s CMYK and shorts I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors (Ann Marie Fleming) and Muybridge’s Strings (Koji Yamamura).

Family Program – All-ages screenings will include Big Drive, Phyllis Grant’s Waseteg, Nicola Lemay’s Private Eyes and Jo Meuris’ The Girl Who Hated Books.

Master Classes – Learn the tips and techniques behind a variety of NFB films from Oscar-winning director Co Hoedeman (The Sand Castle), composer Luigi Allemano, animator Marv Newland, producer Marc Bertrand and director Nicola Lemay.

Director Q&As – Meet Amanda Forbis & Wendy Tilby in Calgary, Patrick Doyon in Montreal, Marv Newland & Ann Marie Fleming in Vancouver, or Anita Lebeau in Winnipeg.
