A cuddly new educational children’s series is set to launch on the U.K.’s CBeebies channel this month. Starting Monday February 27 Numtums will broadcast twice a day, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. as part of the channel’s Love to Learn block.
The show is animated by London studio Beakus where it is produced and directed by Steve Smith, designed by Matthias Hoegg and utilizes a blended 3D/2D technique developed by Sylvain Magne. The studio’s first broadcast series, Numtums is based on a concept by Barry Quinn and commissioned by CBeebies. Lotte Elwell serves as series producer with Tony Reed serving as exec producer.
The multi-platform 25 x 5 series seeks to give children a foundation in basic numeracy within an energetic format that blends the animated Numtums, live-action children and sing along songs to guide young viewers from number recognition to counting and identifying amounts.
