Wizart Releases ‘Snow Queen’ Movie Trailer

Moscow- and Voronezh-based CG animation studio Wizart has released a trailer for its upcoming 3-D feature The Snow Queen. Based on the famous Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, the movie is written and directed by Maxim Sveshnikov and Vlad Barbe and co-produced by Inlay Film. The story centers on a brave orphan girl named Gerda who valiantly fights the Snow Queen in order to save her best friend Kai and her world from the clutches of the cold villainess.

“We wanted to produce a movie with strong characters, a controversial and intriguing story that evokes strong emotions,” says producer Yuri Moskvin. “We changed the Hans Christian Anderson tale a bit to meet the tastes of today’s audience. As the story turned out to be quite international, we decided to produce it in the best traditions of world animation in 3D stereoscopic format.”

“When I started to write the script of The Snow Queen, I could not even imagine that I would also direct it,” says director Maxim Sveshnikov. “But the more I worked on it, the more I wanted to share this touching story with a wide audience. So I persuaded the producers to attach me to the project as a director. Making an animated feature in 3D is definitely a challenge. But the more difficult it is in the beginning, the more interesting your project will become in the end.”

The $7 million dollar-budgeted film is expected to be ready by the fall, with a domestic and international release planned for the end of 2012. The Snow Queen will also be represented at the Cannes Film Market this May. For more info, visit www.snowqueenfilm.com
