‘Angry Birds’ Lands Top Licensing Honor

Rovio Entertainment’s terribly addictive game Angry Birds won the Best Licensed Program of the Year award at this week’s Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. The game, which has spawned a new animated series coming this fall, also won the Best Character/Toy Brand Program of the year and the Best Character or Toy Brand Licensee of the Year for Hard Goods for Commonwealth Toy & Novelty Co.

Entertainment One’s popular preschool series Peppa Pig won in the Film, Television, Celebrity or Entertainment category. Created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker, the series first debuted on U.K.’s Channel Five in 2004 and currently airs on Nick Jr. in the U.S. The charming pig also won an award for Redan Publishing for Peppa Pig/Fun to Learn and Bag-O-Fun magazines.
