Disney Junior to Launch on DIRECTV

Disney and DIRECTV have reached an agreement to add Disney Junior—the Mouse House’s 24-hour channel for kids 2-7 and their parents—to its programming lineup starting tomorrow on channel 289. The addition of DIRECTV means Disney Junior has distribution agreements covering approximately 55 million U.S. households.

DIRECTV customers will now be able to enjoy Disney Junior’s popular toon and live-action lineup which blends beloved characters and early learning components including math and language skills, healthy eating and lifestyle and social/emotional development. Original series include Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Doc McStuffins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, A Poem Is…, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins and Special Agent Oso. The channel also airs classic and contemporary Disney/Pixar films and popular non-theatrical Disney sequels.

“When it comes to children and families, nobody has the tremendous programming to compare with Disney,” said Derek Chang, executive vice president of Content Strategy and Development for DIRECTV. “Our customers have been clamoring for us to add Disney Junior since they first heard about the concept, and DIRECTV is happy to place our trust in Disney as a partner in building this exciting new family service.”
