‘Penguins,’ ‘Regular Show’ Win Emmys

Nick’s The Penguins of Madagascar and Cartoon Network’s Regular Show won the top honors at the 2012 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys, presented Saturday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Penguins of Madagascar won the Outstanding Animated Program honor for the episode, “The Return of the Revenge of Dr. Blowhole.” The DreamWorks Animation series is spun off the popular Madagascar movie series, and will spawn an upcoming feature of its own.

On the individual front, veteran voice actor Maurice LaMarche won the Emmy for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for playing the roles of Clamps, Donbot, Hyperchicken, Calculon, Hedonismbot, Morbo on the Futurama episode ”The Silence Of The Clamps.” “This is seriously messing with my low self-esteem,” LaMarche said in accepting the honor.

Additionally, the Emmy for Outstanding Special Visual Effects went to the HBO series Game of Thrones. The series won for the episode “Valar Morghulis.”
