Van Eaton Galleries Celebrates Hanna-Barbera

The L.A. area’s Van Eaton Galleries is busy preparing an art show tribute to animation legends Hanna-Barbera this spring. The show will kick off April 6 with a free, open to the public artists’ reception from 6-10 p.m.

The tribute is open to works in all media, from painting and drawing to sculpture, mixed media, collage and more inventive creations—all of which will celebrate characters and references from the Hanna-Barbera legacy. Each of the over 100 visual artists, animators, cartoonists, illustrators and FX artists invited to participate will have one piece featured, guaranteeing an array of styles and presentations.

Among the participating artists are several H-B legends, such as Jerry Eisenberg, Tony Benedict, Willie Ito, Iraj Paran and Bob Singer. Other animation notables will also be featured, including Stephen Chiodo, Dan Haskett, Scott Shaw, Harry Sabin, James T. Walker, Miles Thompson, Spike Brandt and Van Partible, as well as illustrator Gris Grimsley. You can view a complete list of participating artists on the Facebook event page.

In conjunction with the art show, the Galleries will also be hosting an exhibition of vintage Hanna-Barbera toys and memorabilia from the Dave Nimitz Collection as well as a selection of original production art from the studio.
