‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Movie Pushed Back Again

Paramount is moving its big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie from June 6, 2014 to August 8. This Nickelodeon/Platinum Dunes feature is pushed back to make more breathing room for the studio’s other big tentpole summer pic Michael Bay’s next Transformers movie, which is set to open on June 27. Deadline.com reports that this move may put the Turtles in direct competition with Marvel’s much-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which will premiere on August 1st, 2014.

The new live-action TMNT movie is directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the South African helmer behind Battle Los Angeles (2011) and Wrath of the Titans (2012), The plotline finds Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s beloved pizza-chomping, sewer-dwelling turtles back to defend the world, but this time we see their back story as mutated reptilian spawns of aliens who have invaded our planet. The cast includes Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Jeremy Howard (Donatello), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo), Noel Fisher (Michelangelo), William Fichtner (The Shredder), Will Arnett (Vernon Fenwick), Whoopi Goldberg (Bernadette Thompson) and Danny Woodburn (Splinter).
