Anchors Aweigh for ‘Sofia the First’ Special

Disney TV’s newest princess, Sofia, and her regal family will take to the high seas for a royal vacation for her first-ever primetime special: Sofia the First: The Floating Palace, which premieres Sunday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel, and Thursday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. on Disney Junior.

The Floating Palace takes the royal family to Merriway Cove, where Sofia meets a young mermaid named Oona (Mad Men‘s Kiernan Shipka). After helping Oona get untangled from a net, Sofia’s magical amulet transforms her into a mermaid, too. During her underwater adventure, Sofia learns the mermaids don’t like her family keeping the floating palace in their cove. When Oona is captured by a sea monster, Sofia (and Princess Ariel, voiced by Disney Legend Jodi Benson reprising her famous role) must save her and create harmony between the two worlds.

A full-length preview of The Floating Palace will arrive on WATCHDisneyJunior.com and the WATCH Disney Junior app on November 11. The special will be simulcast on WATCH Disney Channel the same day, and will be available for download on iTunes, Amazon and Xbox beginning Nov. 25. DisneyJunior.com will also launch new games on the show’s page: the “Sofia the First: Mermaid Princess” rescue game and “Sofia’s Royal Catch & Match” (based on Go Fish) on Nov. 15.
