Good news, comic fans: all across the country, participating comic-book shops will be celebrating Halloween ComicFest (this means free comics are on offer)–the second largest free comic-book event of the year. This Saturday and Sunday, patrons of their local participating retailers can score a free edition of Batman, Spider-Man, Thor, Adventure Time, Archie, Sonic or another top title.
Individual stores will have their own special events, like sales, signings and artist appearances or pumpkin decorating and costume contests and community events like blood drives and fundraisers. Officially, “The Greatest Halloween Costume Contest Ever” will be taking place and running until November 15. Participants must get a costume contest button from a participating comic shop, submit a picture of themselves (in costume, obviously) featuring the official button and then start getting votes on the website. Two random winners will earn a $500 shopping spree at the comic shop of their choice and other great prizes.
