Stop-motion animation fans are always hungry for news about Portland studio LAIKA (Coraline, ParaNorman) and the shop’s upcoming animated feature The Boxtrolls. Well, today we have a wonderful new behind-the-scenes trailer about the making of the much-anticipated 20114 feature. The second trailer shows us how the animators move the intricate characters and set pieces of the upcoming project.

Based on Alan Snow’s novel Here Be Monsters, the movie centers on a group of sewer-dwelling outcasts, who have raised an orphan boy and their battle against an evil exterminator known as Archibald Snatcher. The top-notch voice cast includes Ben Kingsley, Elle Fanning, Jared Harris, Toni Collette, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade, Tracy Morgan and Simon Pegg. The film is directed by Graham Annable and Anthony Stacchi, who also helmed Sony’s Open Season.
Focus Features will release The Boxtrolls on September 26, 2014.
