A lot of good tidbits can come out in earnings report calls. For example: Sony has confirmed it is putting a third Smurfs movie on the fast-track — and that the movie will be fully animated.
The studio’s two previous Smurfs films were hybrid affairs, mixing animation and live-action. The first was a hit, grossing $143 million domestic and $563 million worldwide in 2011. The sequel, released last year, slipped significantly with $71million domestic and $347 million worldwide.
The third Smurfs film is due out Aug. 14, 2015.

SOUNDS GREAT! I CAN’T WAIT! I LOVE THE SMURFS MOVIES AND I LOVE ANIMATION!
I really wish they would make a 2D animated characters when they do movie remakes, the CG thing does not fit very well with certain characters, who were originally 2D. Nothing wrong with using CG background, effects, ect, but the character animation would look much better with 2D.
another of these Smurfs???.. seriously??? u guys hav really lost ur minds…
The silver screen can hold more crap than you think.
