Dion Draws 2014 Poster for Annecy

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival has unveiled the poster for its 2014 edition, featuring artwork from filmmaker, illustrator and producer Franck Dion.

“I wanted to pay tribute to stop motion in creating this poster as the technique is in the spotlight at this year’s Festival,” Dion says. “It also has a very personal significance, as my first short, made in stop motion, was rewarded with the Junior Jury Award at Annecy exactly 10 years ago, in 2004.”

“Since the beginning of his career, Franck Dion has created a real bond with the Annecy Festival,” says Festival Artistic Director Marcel Jean. “His most recent film, Edmond Was a Donkey, was a winner here in 2012. I feel that the strength and unique quality of his graphic world, combined with his deep knowledge of our event, puts him in the perfect position to transpose the cheerful atmosphere of the festival into his own style and the enchanting setting of Annecy.”

Dion works in several different fields. He collaborates with publishers and magazines and creates sets for theatres as well as animation sequences for documentaries. He made his first short film, The Phantom Inventory, in 2003, which went on to receive the Canal J Junior Jury Award at Annecy 2004. He followed it in 2008 with Monsieur Cok, which was selected to screen at Sundance.
