The Broadcast Television Journalists Association has unveiled its list of nominees for the 2014 Critics’ Choice Awards, taking place June 19 at the Beverly Hilton. While live-action fare Fargo, Masters of Sex, The Big Bang Theory and The Good Wife raked in the majority of nods, Fox Television earned the distinction of having the most shows nominated in the Best Animated Series category:
Best Animated Series nominees
- Archer (FX)
- Bob’s Burgers (Fox)
- The Simpsons (Fox)
- Family Guy (Fox)
- Phineas and Ferb (Disney XD)
- Adventure Time (Cartoon Network)

Yea, the worst animated shows on TV get the votes. No wonder kids don’t pay attention to GOOD animation. Like Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. Or Dragon Riders/Defenders of Berk. God I am so sick of crappy animation.
Bruce: You’re over-generalizing here. While I agree that some animation is somewhat “questionable” (IMHO), what these decisions are made on is the sheer popularity of these programs-not quality of animation. The shows listed are immensely popular, & that is what these awards shows are based on. I kind of doubt that the fans of these shows don’t feel that Berk, Panda, ect are inferior compared to what is listed above. It’s what’s watched the most.
But that is also part of the program. I don’t find one of those nominated cartoons funny in any way. They are stupid and not funny and just take up air space. Even Disney has fallen into this pit of dispair. Phinius & Ferb are crap. Most of the animated stuff on Disney channel are just plain not funny. But I realize that being a cartoon fan I look back at The Disney Afternoon shows, (Goof Troop, Rescue Rangers, and the one with Kit Cloudkicker, Baloo and Don Karnage) and of course Gargoyles. Those were well done had great stories and humor. As I get older I find stupid very annoying and all this new stuff is annoying to say the least.
