‘Captain America’ Brings the Fight Home

The star-spangled Avenger is ready to come home.

Out today on home video is the Marvel-Disney mega blockbuster Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Disney, $39.99 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy; $32.99 Blu-ray; $29.99 DVD). This installment in the ongoing Marvel cinematic universe grossed more than $714 million worldwide in ticket sales and was a huge hit with critics and fans as Cap faces corruption from within S.H.I.E.L.D.and faces a former friend turned foe.

And speaking of S.H.I.E.L.D., the small-screen series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Complete First Season (Disney, $79.99 Blu-ray, $45.99 DVD) arrives just ahead of the second-season premiere on Sept. 23.

It’s a fun time for kids this week, with Halloween-related releases such as Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch – A Witch and the Werewolf (Lionsgate, $14.98 DVD) and My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic: Spooktacular Pony Tales (Shout! Factory, $14.97 DVD).

Cartoon Network’s hit gets a new compilation with the release of Regular Show: Rigby Pack (Warner Bros., $19.82 DVD). Other TV animated releases include Doc McStuffins: School of Medicine (Disney, $19.99 DVD), Leapfrog Letter Factory Adventures: Counting On Lemonade (Lionsgate, $14.98 DVD), Peg & Cat: Chicken Problems & Other Really Big Problems (PBS, $12.99 DVD), Let’s Learn Collection: 123s, ABCs, Colors (Paramount, $26.99 DVD), Let’s Learn: Patterns & Shapes (Paramount, $14.99) and Let’s Learn: Shapes (Paramount, $9.99).

On the anime side, this week sees the release of Listen to Me Girls, I Am Your Father: The Complete Collection (Section23 Films, $59.98 Blu-ray, $49.98 DVD) and Tamako Market: Complete Collection (Section23 Films, $59.98 DVD).
