Sales Report: Raft of Global Sales Precede MIPCOM

With MIP Junior and MIPCOM looming in Cannes, reports of sales of animated programs around the world are stacking up.

Here’s the latest:

Genius Brands International has sold Stan Lee’s Mighty 7 to the Discovery Channel in India; Denmark’s Danish Broadcasting Corp.; Thailand’s Workpoint; GMA in the Philippines and Israel’s Imagine Media. It also concluded sales of the movie for home entertainment release with Canada’s Unidisc (for French-speaking Canada only), Australia’s Beyond Home Entertainment and Germany’s Edel AG.

FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment’s preschool property Kate & Mim-Mim (52 x 11′) has been sold to DR in Denmark, SVT in Sweden, Clan in Spain, Panda in Portugal, Lagardere (Tiji and Gulli) in France, and Mini Max in Central Eastern Europe.

Zodiak Kids has sold Marathon Media’s Lolirock (52 x 26′) to a raft of territories across Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. Disney has picked up the full Lolirock series for its platforms in France, Benelux, Spain, CEE, the Middle East and Turkey, while De Agostini Editore (Italy) has acquired the 52 episodes for its Italian pay TV channel DeAKids, and later in 2015, for its DTT free to air channel Super! Other sales include Globo Brazil for their Gloob channel, Noga Israel, MTV Oy in Finland, and Canal Panda Portugal. In Asia, the first 26 episodes were sold to Ciwen (China and Hong Kong). In a separate deal, Malaysia agent Solimac has licensed the first season to RTM.

Imira Entertainment has signed distribution deals with Scholastic and BabyTV, part of Fox International Channels. Imira also sold preschool series Cleo (39 x 6′) to TVE in Spain while Cartoon Network Latin America has scooped the second series of eco-centric animation Yoohoo & Friends (52 x11′), produced by Aurora, for its Caribbean and Latin American channels. Imira will now distribute Scholastic’s Animorphs (26 x 25′), Goosebumps (74 x 26′), Horrible Histories (26 x 26′), I Spy (26 x 26′), Maya & Miguel (65 x 26′), The Magical School Bus (52 x 26′), tales from Sammy’s Story Shop (26 x 23′), and two versions of Stellaluna (1 x 26′ + 1 x 40′). The deal with BabyTV sees Imira Entertainment representing BabyTV brands for licensing, merchandising and publishing rights in Spain and Portugal, and also taking key properties from its extensive content library to free-to-air and pay channels in the territory.

Mercis and Telescreen have presold Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small to ABC4Kids and Dutch public broadcaster, KRO.
