Framestore’s William Bartlett Upped to ECD

Framestore VFX Supervisor William Bartlett has been made an Executive Creative Director, reflecting the studio’s expansion into new avenues requiring greater levels of strategy and creative input. This shift has also resulted in the opening of a dedicated virtual reality and immersive content studio last year, used for work with Game of Thrones and Interstellar.

Bartlett has been with the studio for nearly 20 years, leading the work on award-winning commercials like Guinness “noitulovE”, Smirnoff “Sea” and Johnnie Walker “Fish”. He also supervised visual effects work for a number of James Bond title sequences with Danny Kleinmen, including Casino Royale and Skyfall. In 2013 he was VFX supe on the ground-breaking Galaxy commercial “Chauffeur” which featured full CG face replacement to bring Audrey Hepburn back to the screen.

Bartlett is ECD for Framestore’s London Integrated Advertising office. His counterparts are Murray Butler and Mike Woods in New York, and Aron Hjartarson in L.A. They will be overseeing new types of work at the studios which will extend from VFX services to VR, design, scripting, character design, direction and interactive experiences.
