An all-new DuckTales animated comedy series has been ordered for launch in 2017 on Disney XD channels around the world.
The new Disney Television Animation series will again star Disney’s enduringly popular characters: Scrooge McDuck, his grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, and Donald Duck.
The original DuckTales, based on the classic comic-book tales written and drawn by Carl Barks, ran 100 episodes from 1987 to 1990 and spawned the 1990 animated feature film DuckTales: The Movie — Treasure of the Lost Lamp.
The new series’ adventures will once again take viewers along as Scrooge McDuck, his curious and mischief-making grandnephews — Huey, Dewey and Louie — and the optimistic yet temperamental Donald Duck embark on high-flying adventures worldwide.
Other beloved characters slated to be in the new stories are: Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack.
The original DuckTales is available on WATCH Disney Channel, an app that allows consumers to watch on tablet, phones, computer and set top boxes.

COOL I remember watching this as a kid.
They say enduring but Scrooge was now where to be found at the parks.
That said, this is great! I hope that Alan Young is still the voice despite being in his mid 90’s. He’s one tough Canadian Scotsman.
Well I’m sure he’s going to start showing up a lot more frequently now.
I sure hope they take more inspiration from Don Rosa’s Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.
101 remakes no one asked for
Speak for yourself. This may be the happiest day of my life if they get this right. Huge Uncle Scrooge/Ducktales fan.
Ah, 90s kids…
Dude, I’m just happy that hopefully kids of the younger generation will be able to enjoy it. I’ll still always have my 90s nostalgia for the original, but Scrooge hasn’t been on the scene in AGES and he’s such a fun character, so if this is what it takes to get him back, I’m for it!
I am so afraid they’ll do it in 3D and screw it up!!
And what’s stopping “kids of the younger generation ” from watching the older show on DVD / online?
As with most of the Disney Afternoon shows, they haven’t yet released ALL of the episodes on DVD. In the case of DuckTales, though, at least all of the good episodes (i.e., pre-Bubba) are on DVD.
Actually DuckTales started in the 80s.
FINALLY!
Plot twist, it’s all gonna animated in Flash.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Wakfu was animated in Flash, and that show looked great.
Or, most likely, Toon Boom Harmony which I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all. Especially if they’re using a good studio like Mercury Filmworks or Bardel who are doing some excellent Toon Boom work that look just as good, if not BETTER, then the traditionally animated shipped-to-korea shows that are on Disney and Cartoon Network now.
>implying flash is bad
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is critically acclaimed for its animation, and it’s entirely done in flash.
Hopefully its 2D and animated well like gravity falls or wander over yonder. It would suck if it turns out to be budget CG, or puppet flash….
Ooooh, I hope we find out soon how it will be animated. I don’t know if I could watch a CG Duck Tales. 🙁
Seriously? Do we really need a reboot of this show?
What’s next, a Darkwing Duck reboot?
Yes we do. We really do.
Yeah, but what if Disney ruins it? I don’t want that to happen.
Yes, yes there should be
I would sell my family into slavery for a Darkwing Duck reboot. So glad they are making new comics.
Life is like a Hurricane!
What I care about is how many of the original cast/DuckTales Remastered cast they can get back to do the voices. http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/video-games/DuckTales-Remastered/side-by-side/
Alan Young pls, even though he sounds a bit different these days.
Please please please be a 2D animated show. Prove to the animation industry that it’s not a dead medium!
