DHX Commissions Radical Sheep’s ‘Fangbone’

DHX Television, the broadcasting division of DHX Media, has ordered a brand new animated comedy-adventure series titled Fangbone! from Toronto-based Radical Sheep Productions. Production has kicked off on the 52 x 11 premiere season, which is based on the bestselling graphic novel series Fangbone: Third Grade Barbarian by Michael Rex. DHX TV plans to launch the show on Disney XD Canada in Spring 2016.

Fangbone! is the epic tale of a young barbarian warrior from Skullbania who travels through a magical portal into the suburbs of our world and lands suddenly in Eastwood Elementary School. His mission: to protect the blackened big toe of Venomous Drool from being reunited with its master — the evilest sorcerer in existence. With the help of new sidekick Bill, Fangbone embarks on a quest to outwit Drool’s monsterish minions while learning about the modern world.

The pilot episode, which premiered in May 2014 on Disney XD Canada, recently won the 2015 Kidscreen Award for Best One-Off in the Kids category, and was nominated for Best Animated Program at the Canadian Screen Awards. Fangbone! is developed and produced by Radical Sheep. Michael Rex serves as executive producer along with Radical Sheep’s John Leitch and Michelle Melanson Cuperus, with Susie Grondin as supervising producer. Simon Racioppa and Richard Elliott also serve as EPs and showrunners. The production is supported by the Canada Media Fund.
