‘Seth’s Dominion’ Earns Hot Docs Spot

The National Film Board of Canada is sending off eight projects to be featured at the 2015 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, running in Toronto from April 23 to May 3. Among the NFB selections to be featured is the hybrid animation feature Seth’s Dominion. The film launched at the Ottawa animation fest last year, earning the feature grand prize.

Directed by Luc Chamberland, Seth’s Dominion explores the works of Canadian cartoonist Seth, best known for comic books such as Palookaville. The documentary sheds light on the wry, articulate storyteller, mixing insightful biography with vivid animation in a fusion of filmmaking techniques that captures Seth’s creative universe. The film was produced for the NFB by Marcy Page and Gerry Flahive.

Additional documentaries from the organization headed to Hot Docs are Hadwin’s Judgement (Sasha Snow), The Amina Profile (Sophie Deraspe), Finding Macpherson (Serge Giguere), Danny (Justin Simms and William D. MacGillivray), Home Cooked Music (Mike Maryniuk), Hell Runs on Gasoline! (Martin Bureau) and the final installment of digital documentary project HIGHRISE (Katerina Cizek).
