L.A.-based distributor Pop Twist Entertainment has taken on rights for 3D animated film Little Big Panda, on behalf of Benchmark Entertainment Picture Productions GmbH. Pop Twist will handle North America and select international markets for the film, which has been a theatrical hit in Germany, China, Russia, Eastern Europe and Israel. Pop Twist will launch sales for theatrical, TV, DVD and other platforms in its territories at MIPJr and AFM this fall.
Also available in 2D, the 81-minute feature is co-produced by Germany’s Benchmark and China’s Yi Sang Media. Little Big Panda is directed by veteran Disney animator Greg Manwaring (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, FernGully, The Lion King) and Benchmark’s Michael Schoemann (Millionaire Dogs).
Little Big Panda tells the story of Manchu, a young panda living in the majestic Chinese highlands. When the survival of his community is endangered, the leisure-loving pandas are slow to react, but Manchu leads the way. With the help of his friends, the little panda overcomes breath-taking obstacles on a journey to find a new home across incredible landscapes.
