Disney Scraps Infinity Console Business

Disney is stepping away from the video game publishing arena, deciding to shutter its Disney Infinity console business and taking a $147 million write off in its second fiscal quarter earnings. Variety reports that chairman and CEO Bob Iger has said that the console gaming game was too unpredictable.

Disney Infinity launched in 2013 and performed well, but later iterations and titles lagged significantly in sales. Disney Infinity’s SVP and General Manager told Variety via Twitter that there will be two final releases for the console: Alice Through the Looking Glass this month and Finding Dory in June.
