CBeebies Programs Get Digital Debut in China on iQIYI

BBC Worldwide last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China’s largest online video platform, iQIYI, which will bring nearly 300 hours of preschool content from its CBeebies banner to digital viewers in the country for the first time. The programs will be available to iQIYI’s 20 million paid subscribers (as of June 2016) on both its online platform and app.

Included in the programming lineup, branded 思贝斯 (sī bèi sī), will be some of the UK channel’s most popular series, including animated titles Go Jetters, Sarah and Duck and Hey Duggee. The MOU was signed by David Weiland, EVP Asia, BBC Worldwide and Wang Xiaohui, Chief Content Officer, iQIYI. It was witnessed by Kelvin Yau, GM, Greater China, BBC Worldwide and Zeng Shangyou, Director, Copyright Management Centre, iQIYI.

The block will launch by this summer, with programs available in English and/or Mandarin.
