Aardman Nathan Love Inspires Life-Saving Action in Animated FEMA Experience

Aardman Nathan Love studio and Ogilvy Washington agency have delivered a distinctly styled choose-your-own-adventure animated video for the new “You Are the Help Until Help Arrives” program from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Individual and Community Preparedness Division.

Titled “The Berk’s Wonderfully Happy Day,” the interactive PSA centers on a family whose trip to the amusement park takes a series of dangerous turns, putting viewers in control of making lifesaving decisions for injured park-goers. Despite the serious content matter, the video features playful and inviting animation from Aardman Nathan Love that doesn’t turn the viewer off.

“FEMA aimed to inform people that there were steps anyone could take with no special training to help an injured person even before the paramedics arrive,” said ANL director Ellen Su. “The idea was to create this whimsical world where the characters get into all sorts of crazy incidents. We wanted to entertain and educate viewers on how they could really save lives should they find themselves in similar situations.”

“We are thrilled that Ogilvy came to us with such a fun and exciting idea to convey their educational content. There was a lot of important information that we had to depict and it was definitely a collaboration in getting the characters and story all together.”

“The Berk’s Wonderfully Happy Day” is directed by Ellen Su, with Joe Burrascano as creative director, and James Elio and Frankline Zitter producing.

Watch ANL’s video and explore additional resources from the “You Are the Help Until Help Arrives” on the program’s FEMA page.
