ACM SIGGRAPH has announced the selection of Kristy Pron, a media arts and pipeline developer at Walt Disney Imagineering, as the SIGGRAPH 2020 Conference Chair. This edition will mark the first time the event has taken place in Washington, D.C., where it will run July 19-23, 2020 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Pron has been a volunteer for the conference since 2006, holding positions such as Emerging Technologies Chair 2015, Experience Hall Chair 2016 & 2017, and General Submissions Chair for the upcoming SIGGRAPH 2018 in Vancouver, BC (Aug. 12-16).
“We are so excited for Kristy to lead the SIGGRAPH 2020 conference,” said Marc Barr, SIGGRAPH Conference Advisory Group Chair. “Her excellent leadership skills and history with the organization are strengths we are confident will lead to a successful conference.”
Based in Orlando, Florida, Pron’s working life is spent developing immersive pre-visualization experiences to help other Imagineers virtually design park buildings, attractions or experiences. She holds both a BS and MS in Digital Media from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She worked for the Department of Defence in D.C. for six years before heading south to work for Disney.

They are so inspiring and passionate and I love coming every year to reignite creativity and make lifelong industry connections and friends.”
SIGGRAPH 2017 in Los Angeles hosted more than 16,500 attendees from 88 countries. The 2018 Conference Chair is Roy C. Anthony (VP Creative Development & Operations, Ventuz Technologies); the 2019 Conference Chair is Mikki Rose (Fur Technical Director, Blue Sky Studios).
