CMC Dates 2018 Playground Interactive Digital Art Exhibition

UK’s Children’s Media Conference has announced that the 2018 Playground interactive digital art exhibition for children, families and CMC delegates, will take place July 3-8 in Sheffield at the Millennium Gallery. The week-long event explores everything new in play-along digital technology, from VR games to cutting-edge toys. And, entrance to the exhibition is free!

“This year, the Playground show is subtitled Music/ Response. Through music, we’re able to express every emotion, and with the content we’re asking a number of questions: In these divided times, is music and rhythm key to cohesion? How do we create empathy and understanding through sound? How do we use sound to connect to ourselves and each other?”

In addition to checking out the latest kid-friendly gizmos, young visitors can participate in Maker activities and get their hands dirty with fun arts and crafts with things like “electrical dough” and “electrical paint.” Organizers say the show is suitable for 5- to 12-year olds, but everyone is welcome.

Arts Council England is the new supporter of Playground with its recent agreement to fund the exhibition for the first time. Dubit, the research and strategy company based in Leeds, are Playground Founding Sponsors.

“2018 will be our third event and we are delighted to have financial support from The Arts Council for the first time. It represents a vote of confidence for our work. As a result of this funding, we are able to move into the Millennium Gallery and produce an even bigger and better exhibition for the benefit of local kids and families,” said Kathy Loizou, Co-Founder and Director of CMC.
