The National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit media organization of 1,100 media voters and 8,895 subscribers, has announced nominees for its 18th annual awards program honoring video game art, technology and production. The NAVGTR Awards cover 59 competitive categories recognizing achievement in animation, art direction, character design, controls, game design, game engineering, musical score, sound effects, writing and more. Since its inception, the academy has recognized over 3,600 talented individuals.
Leading all games with a record 22 nominations is God of War, followed closely behind by Marvel’s Spider-Man with 21. Dead Cells earned the highest number of nominations for an independent title with five.
“We have strong contenders for this year’s NAVGTR awards, including record-setting nominations by God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man,” said Thomas Allen, Executive Director at NAVGTR Corp. “It can be anyone’s day as there are a bevy of other amazing titles in the mix, such as Detroit: Become Human and Red Dead Redemption 2. We can’t wait to see which games come out on top.”
NAVGTR strongly supports the IGDA Developer Credit special interest group (SIG) to improve crediting practices, making award attributions possible for individuals.
