Netflix and Sony Preparing New Elvis Presley Action Comedy Toon

Netflix is all shook up for Elvis. The streaming service has announced that has ordered an adult animated action comedy series featuring Elvis Presley. The show which is titled Agent King will be exec produced by Priscilla Presley and John Eddie and will be co-produced by Authentic Brands Group, Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures TV, per Variety.

Actress and business magnate Priscilla Presley, who was married to Elvis from 1967 to 1973, told the trade pub, “From the time Elvis was a young boy he always dreamed of being the superhero fighting crime and saving the world! Agent King lets him do just that…My co-creator John Eddie and I are so excited to be working with Netflix and Sony Animation on this amazing project and getting the chance to show the world an Elvis they haven’t seen before.”

According to the official description of the show, “Elvis Presley trades in his white jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves — all while holding down his day job as the King Of Rock And Roll.”

Co-creators Presley and Eddie will also executive produce the series. Jerry Schilling is consultant, while Mike Arnold (Archer) will be the showrunner, writer and co-executive producer. Fletcher Moules will serve as supervising director and co-executive producer.

Netflix made the announcement on the anniversary of Presley’s death (August 16, 1977), which coincides with “Elvis Week,” a Graceland celebration of Elvis’ music, movies and legacy.

Here’s hoping that audiences can’t help falling in love with the show, won’t look at it with suspicious minds and don’t return it to sender.
