Trailer: Ding Dong, It’s ‘America: The Motion Picture’!

Netflix has pulled the official trailer for the revolutionary adult animation flick America: The Motion Picture out of its periwig, and revisionist history will never be the same. Premiering on the streamer June 30, the wildly anachronistic comedy comes from the “Founding Fathers” of Archer (director Matt Thompson), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (producers Phil Lord & Chris Miller), The Expendables (writer Dave Callaham) and Magic Mike (Channing Tatum) — America truly is a melting pot.

(Read more about the movie in the new issue of Animation Magazine, June-July ’21 / No. 311.)

Synopsis: In this wildly tongue-in-cheek animated revisionist history, a chainsaw-wielding George Washington (voiced by Tatum) assembles a team of rabble rousers — including beer-loving bro Sam Adams (Jason Mantzoukas), famed scientist Thomas Edison (Olivia Munn), acclaimed horseman Paul Revere (Bobby Moynihan) and a very pissed off Geronimo (Raoul Max Trujillo) — to defeat Benedict Arnold (Andy Samberg) and King James (Simon Pegg) in the American Revolution. Who will win? No one knows, but you can be sure of one thing: these are not your father’s Founding… uh, Fathers.

The voice cast also features Judy Greer as Martha Washington, Will Forte as Abraham Lincoln and Killer Mike as Blacksmith.

As well as Lord, Miller, Tatum, Thompson and Callaham, America: The Motion Picture is produced by Will Allegra, Peter Kiernan, Reid Carolin and Eric Sims.
