Zoë Kravitz to Produce and Voice Coming-of-Age Toon ‘Phatty Patty’

Zoë Kravitz will star in and executive produce the new animated series Phatty Patty, per Deadline.com. Written by India Sage Wilson, of CW’s Dynasty, the project will be produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Studios. The series will be shopped around to networks and streaming services in the weeks to come as well.

Created, written, and executive produced by Wilson, Phatty Patty is based on Wilson’s own life experience of growing up as a biracial girl. The series will follow Patty Palecki, a 9-year-old who is growing up during the early 2000s whose “dreams of stardom are crushed when she discovers Mick Jagger is not her biological father.”

Wilson’s own journey towards self-acceptance as a biracial girl in a predominantly white community serves as inspiration for the coming-of-age series as a whole. Patty’s life as a fourth grader will be chronicled throughout the animated series.

Alongside Kravitz and Wilson, Westbrook Studios Co-President, Teresa Carter and the Head of Television David Boorstein will serve as executive producers on the series. Kravitz will executive produce through her production company This Is Important. Matthew Tinker and Annakate Chappell will also executive produce.

Most recently, Kravitz appeared in and executive produced the series High Fidelity for Hulu and will also star as Catwoman in the upcoming 2022 film The Batman. She has become well known for her work in franchises like Mad Max and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Wilson’s other work includes the feature Little Witches, which is currently in development at MiMo Studios. Tinker has produced HBO’s The Undoing and he is currently executive producing Love and Death for HBO Max.
