PBS KIDS’ Aardvark Star Finally Sees 4th Grade in ‘Arthur’s First Day’ Special

This Labor Day, families can kick back and enjoy a new adventure for one of animation’s most enduring stars as he boldly goes where he’s never gone before: The fourth grade! Premiering coast to coast on PBS KIDS on Monday, September 6, “Arthur’s First Day” is a one-hour Arthur movie which sees both Arthur and little sister D.W. move up a grade. The fan-favorite aardvark and his friends will navigate new teachers, make new friends, and go on new adventures in this back-to-school special.

In “Arthur’s First Day,” it’s finally the first day of fourth grade, and Arthur and his friends couldn’t be more excited! But — GASP — Arthur and Buster find out they’re in different classes! While Buster makes a new friend and begins a mysterious adventure around the school, Arthur starts forming a new friendship of his own and worries he may be losing his best friend. Meanwhile, D.W. and her best friend Emily are starting their very first day of kindergarten! When Emily starts having the worst first day ever, it’s up to her Big Buddy Muffy to show her the ropes of her new school.

In July, it was revealed that GBH Kids is no longer in production on the long-running series, which will conclude with its 25th season on PBS KIDS next year. This long awaited advancement to the next grade will offer many opportunities for the popular characters to learn, grow and experience the world in new ways through to the finale.
