Holy Animated Content! Amazon Nabs Two New ‘Batman’ Shows and a Movie

It’s a good day to be a Dark Knight fan: Amazon has officially confirmed that it has placed a two-season order for the upcoming Batman: Caped Crusader series, from Matt Reeves, J.J. Abrams and Bruce Timm. You’ll recall that the show was abandoned by HBO Max (now Max), which led to Amazon making a winning offer to be the new home for the eagerly anticipated, high-pedigreed series.

But, wait! There’s more: Amazon has also picked up an original animated film titled Merry Little Batman and an animated spinoff series called Bat-Family, both from Warner Bros. Animation and DC.

Merry Little Batman is a family action-comedy show that finds young Damian Wayne transforming into Little Batman to defend his home and Gotham from villains who seek to destroy the holidays! The feature is directed and exec produced by Mike Roth (Regular Show) and written by Morgan Evans (Teen Titans Go!), Warner Bros. Animation chief Sam Regiter is also exec producing the title.

There’s also Bat-Family, which centers on Batman, Alfred and young Damian Wayne (aka Little Batman) and some newcomers to Wayne Manner as they enjoy the fun times and frustrations of life as a super family. The show is exec produced by Jase Ricci, Mike Roth and Sam Register.
